Kickstart Drums is based in Folkestone, Kent. We offer drum lessons in schools, one-to-one, and group percussion workshops in the Kent area.

Our drum kit lessons are beginner-friendly, structured, and fun. We help students develop their rhythm and become confident, coordinated, and creative drummers. From rock to pop to funk to jazz, we cover everything needed to pick up your sticks and play along to the music you love!

Our hands-on group drum & percussion workshops help build a sense of rhythm, teamwork, confidence, and the joy of making music together in a fun, interactive, and engaging way - with no experience required.

Kickstart Drums was started by Jonny Sutton, a drum & percussion teacher in Kent who also taught for a number of years in East Sussex. Drums have been a big part of Jonny's life from a young age; and his passion is to teach and inspire young drummers to play the drums and love it! Jonny has lots of experience teaching children, teenagers, and adults too.

As well as the great feeling of learning a new instrument, drum lessons help children and young people develop essential skills in music, rhythm, concentration, cooperation, listening, reading, and even maths (mostly without realising it!) Learning any instrument takes time and effort; but more importantly, learning the drums is a lot of fun! A regular drum lesson can make the world of difference as kids and teenagers get to express their creativity, personality, and energy in a healthy and constructive way. Drumming is about so much more than hitting things - it's about learning new beats, playing along to your favourite songs, and maybe even forming your own band! That's why their drum lessons will soon become the highlight of their week!

Children and teenagers are the heartbeat of Kickstart Drums - but we're not just for kids! We absolutely teach adults too! Jonny teaches children as young as reception and adults as 'young' as they feel! It's never too late to give drumming a go. So whoever you are, Kickstart Drums is for you.

We understand learning an instrument can feel quite daunting, and not everyone learns at the same pace or in exactly the same way. Our teaching approach is patient, calm, friendly, and encouraging; and our simple, structured, engaging lessons suit 'little ones,' 'lively ones,' teenagers and adults wanting to master the kit, develop their own sound, and take Small Steps to Big Beats!
