School Drum Kit Lessons
Group Lessons in Primary & Secondary Schools
Building coordination, focus, and confidence one beat at a time
From Year R to Year 13, we make learning the drums the highlight of their week! Our weekly drum lessons take place in schools in Folkestone and Kent. They are in small groups and lots of fun; but they also help build coordination, focus, and confidence that positively impacts the rest of their learning and enjoyment of school.
Drumming is about so much more than hitting things! A regular drum lesson can make the world of difference to a pupil's school experience and ability to engage well with the rest of their education. As well as the sense of accomplishment that comes with learning a new instrument, drum lessons help children in primary and secondary school develop essential skills in music, rhythm, concentration, cooperation, listening, reading, and even maths!
Drum lessons also encourage pupils to use and express their creativity, personality, and energy in a healthy and constructive way; as they take small steps to big beats, play along to their favourite songs, or even form their own band.
Boosting your school's music provision
We partner with you to boost and support your school's existing music provision, and the opportunities for pupils to develop their rhythm and learn an instrument that is fun, rewarding, and enriches their education, engagement, and enjoyment of school.
Maybe you're looking to expand what you offer to pupils; or perhaps you already offer lessons in other musical instruments such as guitar, piano, singing, or group rock/pop band sessions. By adding Kickstart Drums to your school's music provision, more children and young people will have the chance to get involved and benefit from the joy of music - in a way that complements the great things you already do!
As well as weekly small group drum lessons, we offer one-off drum & percussion workshops too. You can find out more here.
All equipment provided by us
No kit? No problem! We bring everything needed, and take it away afterwards! Pupils have the opportunity to play acoustic and electric drum kits, practice pads, and play along to songs.
If you're concerned about noise, we can use quieter drum sticks, or the electric kit only - which can be played through headphones.
Beginner-friendly, structured, and fun
Our drum lessons are beginner-friendly, structured, and fun. We help students develop their rhythm and become confident, coordinated, and creative drummers - who love learning and rock the kit!
Learning a new instrument can also feel quite daunting. At Kickstart Drums, we want everyone, from Year R to Year 13, to enjoy drumming and look forward to their lessons. We understand that children and young people learn well in a supportive, caring, patient, and non-intimidating environment. Our teaching approach is calm and engaging; friendly and encouraging; and our lessons are accessible to all.
Learning the drums is one of the real joys of life. From rock to pop to funk to jazz, we cover all the areas needed to not only play the drums, but truly love drumming! Children will have opportunities to play along to songs; and may even want to form their own school band!
We also know that not everyone learns at the same pace or in exactly the same way, and so we adapt our lessons to suit the ages, abilities, and needs of the pupils in each group.
Questions you might want to ask!
What equipment do you provide?
We provide everything needed - acoustic and electric drums (or just electric drums if noise is a concern), practice pads, and sticks.
The only thing we need from the school is a suitable room, and children who want to learn to play!
Won't it be too noisy for our school?!
Like most instruments, drums and cymbals do produce a good, full, sound!
We fully understand that not all schools have a music room or hall away from other classrooms; and so, if you're concerned about noise, we can stick to the electric kit, which can be played through headphones so as not to disturb learning elsewhere in the school.
How many pupils do you teach per group?
Groups are kept small, normally 3 or 4 pupils per 30min lesson/ 20mins for infants. And we're very happy to teach a number of groups back-to-back!
Learning drums together is lots of fun and we make sure no one is left behind.
We're a busy school... is there any extra work or admin for us?
No! We usually start with a drum demonstration in assembly followed by a letter/ email to parents/ carers. Once children have signed up (through our website), we handle all communication and invoicing directly with parents/ carers.
The only thing we ask is that children are reminded when to go to their drum lesson each week.
